THE CANDIDATE

A novel about prejudices and difficulties that women have to face when occupying , or expecting to occupy, maintaining or gaining a position of power – then and now. The novel is a cry for equality, which in Spain is misunderstood: Women representing half of the student body means nothing if in reality women can’t have powerful positions, specially at an economic level.

The novel also digs deep in what power means to women: what pushes them to look for it, what it means to them, what they want, and what are the consequences when they do have it.

The novel is written in the first person: Isabel’s a Minister of Economy and the leading candidate for her party in the presidential elections. Along the way she will lose and win many things, and people.
